It all started with this. Ever wondered what incredible places you missed after leaving a city? This trip answers those questions, taking you on a breathtaking journey where you will learn about Portuguese culture from the perspective of one of our "famous" local drivers. This trip starts in Lisbon and whisks you off to the lush, verdant hills of Sintra.  Sintra is a Unesco World Heritage site and it's fairy-tale setting is perfect for our first stop. In Sintra, we start off getting your blood sugar levels up by trying our favorite local pastry: the "queijada" (See how we get them here). After you've gotten your sugar and caffeine fix, we take a leisurely stroll through the romantic city centre, then we head to one of the best kept secrets in Portugal: "Quinta da Regaleira" - a millionaire's dream brought to life by the famous Italian landscape artist and stage designer, Luigi Manini. An architectural wonderland, from mythological landscapes and underground caves, to a hidden revolving wall, this place should be classified as a drug.  

After we hit the road, winding through the trees in "Serra de Sintra," we take a small break for lunch close to the western-most point in continental Europe. Lunch is a typical Portuguese spread, prepared (with love) by your friend and driver, who will put together a sampling of Portuguese Chouriço, cheese and wine. From there, we take you to what was once considered the end of the world and the awe-inspiring viewpoint at Cabo Da Roca, the most western point of mainland Europe. Once you've gazed out over the seemingly endless mass that is the atlantic ocean, we drive down to the wind-swept dunes of  "Guincho" beach.  From there, we cruise along the exhilarating coast line to Cascais, where (besides exploring this beautiful beach town) we sample the best ice cream in Portugal. From Cascais we then head back to Lisbon with a stop in Belém for one last treat: the famous Pastel de Belém, where your driver will formally finish your process of becoming a Lisbon Local.

King Of The Hills | A Unique Urban Adventure in the City of Lisbon

A city tour through the heart of Lisbon's 7 hills. Hold on tight because this tour is designed to make travelers love the hills of Lisbon like the locals do. Don't torture your legs, meet us at Rossio square in the city centre. We pick you up in Portuguese style, with one of a kind vintage, seven passenger, convertible jeep. The tour will take you and other travelers up and down the 7 hills of Lisbon in four wheel drive (4x4). Along the way, our local Drivers (learn about them here) will stop for exploration of various sites, tell exciting stories and about urban happenings in their city. 
Stop 1, the top of Parque Eduardo VII to view the amazing civic planning and public spaces created by Marquês de Pombal and give our travelers an overview of the day's excursion. We pile back into the UMM and head off to the Estrela district and the beautiful Jardim da Estrela, Lisbon's largest and most assorted park, as well as its marvelous neighbor, Basilica da Estrela.  A roller-coaster of a ride, you motor through Bairro Alto's small winding streets, into Chiado and Largo do Carmo. Site of the 1974 Carnation Revolution, and lone survivor of the great 1755 earthquake, the 14th century gothic Igreja do Carmo.This plaza offers spectacular views of Lisbon and is the top of our famous hundred year old elevator, Santa Justa. 
By now you will have fallen in love with Lisbon, only to be taken down yet another hill to the well known Baixa district, where shopping is God. Here locals worship our city's fine Ginjinha and view the church of Saint Dominic. The surrounding Pombaline plazas were home to the Inquisition for over 300 years. The real surprise is always for last, along the magnificent and alluring Tejo river around Praça do Comércio, into the oldest area of Lisbon. Alfama will end the tour with much, much, more than can be written to describe it. Leave it to our drivers to make this city tour an adventure worthy of true Lisbon.

A Trip to Arrábida National Park

We all want more and when you're done exploring Lisbon and Sintra and Cascais - break on through to the otherside with us...just outside of Lisbon. This trip takes you on a beautiful journey through the Arrábida National Park. We stop to take in breathtaking views from the Pousada Castelo de São Filipe of Tróia of the bay. Here, we will prepare a cheese and Moscatel tasting. On our way down, we stop at the secluded beach of Figueirinha, where you can get out and stretch your legs or walk barefoot along the coastline. Where better to take a lunch break? After lunch we traverse the mountain in Arrábida National Park on our way to Sesimbra. We will stop here for a while and explore the famous, and yet quaint, fishing village. On our way back to Lisbon we make sure you leave with your bellies full as we will make one last stop at the famous Tortas de Azeitão factory before crossing the famous 25th of April Bridge where we can all thank the "Cristo Rei" for a wonderful trip to Arrábida National Park.

For a fixed price of 25 euros, you and your party will be picked up at your hotel or hostel in our van and driven to the Lisbon airport in style, the only way we know how. Along the way, we will tell you about everything you missed and we will wrack our brains giving you every reason to stay. And if you still really want to catch that flight, we will listen to you cry as you say 'goodbye' to us.
