History (Thanks Mom and Dad!)

Bruno grew up among the hills of Lisbon, riding the trams, playing football in the streets, and soaking up stories about the city he was growing up in. His parents loved family trips in their van. It was not uncommon for him to come home from school to a packed car, full of gas and ready to go...destination unknown. His family trips took him all over Portugal, Europe and other far-flung destinations. Maybe it´s in his blood, that´s why he has always had a van, not only for catching waves at the end of a beautiful day or helping friends move but because it is perfect for stuffing all of his friends inside, and going for a ride.

Bruno realized that many people were visiting Lisbon and leaving without seeing the most beautiful parts. He wanted people to see the city he saw. Some of them were not seeing these places, because they didn't have the time, or the money.   He had the van, he loved to drive, he knew the city and its surroundings like no one else. We Hate Tourism Tours was born.

Bruno began picking up travellers in hotels, hostels and some he plucked from the streets while the van was still moving.   Soon everyone was leaving Lisbon with a big smile and a small part of Bruno's love for Lisbon.

Many waited tables, odd jobs and money earning ventures later, a company and an idea are in motion like his vans.

Now him and his friends are out to conquer the hearts and minds off all those that want to stop being tourists and start travelling.
